Andy Boyd is a professor in the department of Biomedical and Health Information Sciences and associate chief health information officer for innovation and research at University of Illinois Hospital and Health Science System. After completing his medical degree, his postdoctoral work was in biomedical informatics at the University of Michigan under the mentorship of Prof. Brian Athey. His research now focuses on data simplification to improve clinical outcomes. He has developed two patient education applications. His work tried to simplify the transition from ICD-9-CM to ICD-10-CM. He has also built software to help interprofessional communication between health providers.
